If you're attending the Ecological Society of America annual meeting next month in Ft. Lauderdale, please consider attending a workshop I'm co-organizing with two fellow GLEON Fellowship Program students.
We'll have a panel discussion and brainstorming session about skills graduate students need to succeed in interdisciplinary, collaborative groups, and how best to provide such training.
Tuesday @ 11:30 a.m. Bring your lunch!
For more details and a full workshop description, please visit bit.ly/2aoq0ny.
Hope to see you there!
I'm back in Athens after spending the past month teaching ecology as part of a summer semester on wheels with the UGA Interdisciplinary Field Program. I had a great time teaching about a wide range of ecological topics as we drove from Sapelo Island, GA west to Las Vegas.
Here, a quick stop at the Mississippi River overlook on the Mississippi/Louisiana border was a chance for a lesson about floodplain ecology, land use and nutrient management, and the ecosystem impacts of levees, dams, and locks.
